Working with children takes a lot of energy. Rev. Jamalyn Peigh Williamson has the experience, passion – and the energy – needed in her role as Associate Pastor of Children’s Ministries.
A Hoosier native, Jamalyn was born in Franklin, Indiana and raised in Terre Haute. She graduated from Purdue University in 1997 with a degree in Sales and Sales Management, and began working first in the Indiana Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, next at McLeodUSA as an Account Executive. But growing involvement as a volunteer in a local church led her to realize that “I felt more at home in the church world than I did in my business world.” She enrolled at Duke Divinity School and graduated in 2003.
A trip to Haiti during her time at Duke resonated deeply with Jamalyn, and she began working for Family Health Ministries, a not-for-profit group based out of Durham, NC, in connection with their Haitian orphan program. She and her husband, David, spent two years living and working on Fondwa, Haiti. Their time there has had a great impact on their ministry, and Jamalyn continues to work ten hours a week for Family Health Ministries in addition to her three-quarter time appointment as Associate Pastor at St. Luke’s.
Jamalyn began her appointment at St. Luke’s on January 1, 2010, along with her husband David. She also ministers to their own two children, Margaret and Nathan, and she visits Panera Bread as often as possible.
