Opportunities at St. Luke's

Lay leadership has been key to the growth and culture of St. Luke's during its 50-year history. If you are interested in committing the talents and time required in these volunteer leadership position within the church's administration, please contact Julia Skiles.

Staff-Parish: This committee oversees the largest portion of the annual budget at St. Luke's, providing salaries and benefits to over 50 church employees. This committee is active in staff evaluations and works with the church staff to develop future needs and job descriptions. Members of the Staff-Parish Committee serve for three years.

Board of Trustees: This group has the responsibility of maintaining the building and grounds owned by the church. Trustees are elected for three years.

Finance: Members of the St. Luke's Finance Committee watch over a $2,400,000 annual budget, helping to ensure that church funds are spent wisely and with adequate controls. This committee meets monthly to
review financial progress and make recommendations to the Staff-Parish Committee and Trustees on setting their budgets. Membership on the Finance Committee is for a three-year term and is open to any member of St. Luke's.

Endowment: St. Luke's Endowment was formed in 1989 to support the mission of the church today and into the future. The Endowment Fund receives outright gifts and bequests made to the church and holds them in perpetuity. They are professionally invested, with a percentage of the fund value used annually for St. Luke's capital improvements and benevolences. St. Luke's Finance committee oversees the investment strategy, the Leadership Cabinet determines the fund distribution, while the Endowment Committee guides the marketing, educational, and fundraising efforts. If you would like additional information, please contact the Church office at 846-3404 or Mark Helmus, Endowment Committee Chair, at 317-730-2042 or mchelmus@comcast.net.

Stewardship Commission: This group has the responsibility of providing information and educational material to the church family about the financial and volunteer needs required to support the mission and
programs of St. Luke's. This active committee holds an annual ministry fair which provides an opportunity to learn about and sign up for the many ministries offered by St. Luke's; it also oversees the annual financial stewardship campaign.

Church Council: This governing body of the church is comprised of the lay chairs of each committee/commission at St. Luke's and the members of the Clergy staff. In addition to approving the annual budget and electing officers, this group helps provide the vision for the future direction of the church through the use of congregational surveys, planning retreats and quarterly informational meetings. Election to the Church Council takes place each June.
