Fellowship
One of the reasons many people give for attending church regularly is that they desire a “sense of community,” or a place to belong. One of the best ways to establish a church home is to find other members who share interests and soon feel like family.
St. Luke’s offers a wide variety of fellowship groups. Our Family Fellowship Commission focuses on activities that enhance the lives of our members with young children. From hunting for Easter eggs to enjoying hayrides at Family Camping Weekend, St. Luke’s families laugh while forming bonds and creating common memories. For more information or to get involved with the Commission, contact Rev. David Williamson.
Got game? Volleyball, men’s basketball or softball, biking and bowling are all available for those who yearn to spike, shoot, swing, sweat or strike!
Several other opportunities for fellowship also welcome new members year round. Our Elderberries are the sages of the church who meet monthly for a variety of programs. The Sowers are a group of gardeners who maintain a beautiful garden on St. Luke’s grounds. And our ReachOut group provides a place for conversation and support for the GLBT community.
New starting Fall 2011: the third Sunday of every month is hereby decreed Family Fellowship Night at St. Luke’s! Join other families of our church at 5PM for a pizza dinner, followed by “Mission Possible Kids” for elementary-aged children, and parenting study groups for adults (childcare will be provided for children aged kindergarten and under). Come connect with other families and take time with other parents to reflect on the challenges and joys of parenthood. Contact Rev. David Williamson for more information.
In addition to organized groups and activities, many different ministries of St. Luke’s organize all-church events throughout the year – like the United Methodist Men’s Fish Fry, the Singles Strawberries & Jazz, or Later @ St. Luke’s Later on the Lawn service – where all may come together to seek, celebrate, live and share the love of God for all creation . . . while having great food, music and conversation at the same time. So what are you waiting for? Come fellowship!
