Big People Opportunities
Reap the Rewards of Volunteering in the East Wing
There would be no Children's Ministries program without volunteers. With the exception of a few paid staff members, the entire program is run by volunteers. It takes 125 generous souls each month to man our childcare activities alone.
It is not necessary to have a Masters in Child Development, Religious Studies or Art to qualify. All that is needed is a warm heart, loving hands, and as little as one Sunday a month of your time. There are multiple ways to volunteer, from short- to long-term, event management to child care. Dressing up from time to time is optional, but fun!
Every effort is made to find a volunteer schedule that will work for an individual willing to be involved in making "faith memories" with the children. Curriculum and supplies are provided to all classes.
If you are interested in discovering the rewards of volunteering in the Children's Ministries area, please call the Education Office (846-2745 x307). All adults who work with children at St. Luke's must go through a background check as part of our Safety & Security policy.
For more information on volunteer opportunities choose the 'children' category on our volunteer page. You may register online to be a Sunday Morning Caregiver or a Sunday School Small Group Leader. To volunteer for any of the following opportunities, please contact our volunteer line at 846-3404 x307. Opportunities include:
- Sunday School teacher or assistant
- Greeter on Sunday mornings
- Sunday Morning Caregivers
- Sunday Morning Floaters
- Summer Sunday School Teachers
- Summer Sunday Movie Room Volunteers
Children's Commission
The members of Children's Commission are the lay leaders of the Children's Ministry. They work to create vision for children and families at St. Luke’s. They typically meet the 4th Tuesday of the month. For more information, please contact Shannon Kellogg at scurtiskellogg@yahoo.com.
Parents' Night Out
Parents' Night Out is a co-op childcare program that runs from August thru July on the 2nd Saturday night of every month from 5:30-9PM. Children four months of age up thru 3rd grade are eligible to participate. Parents are obligated to work (watch children at the church) two months of the year and are free to have "date nights" the other ten months. Annual fee is $20 per family. For more information, please contact Lisa Sims at therealsims@sbcglobal.net (818-1994) or Jackie Vaughn at stlukespno@gmail.com 569-9667. The registration forms may be downloaded, but note that after August, new families can be accepted on a space available basis only. Complete one Child Information Form for each child and one Parent Information and Agreement per family.
