Couples, Inc.

Easter--it's all about new life and new opportunities.  We see this new life sprouting all around us, as Spring is in the air!  Want to breathe some new life into your relationship?  Check out one of these options:

Making Your Marriage Work

According to most relationship books, the key to a solid marriage is communication, communication, communication. But what if there's much more to a solid, "emotionally intelligent" marriage than sharing every feeling and thought?  What does it take to develop real intimacy, trust and affection?  Starting on April 15, we will be offering a four-week study on John Gottman's classic work The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, led by Rev. David Williamson and Wendy Loker, LMFT.  Learn about the "Four Horsemen" that spell doom for a marriage, as well as the seven principles that fill a relationship with real and lasting joy. Class will run on Sunday mornings at 11:00 in the Parlor.  Open to all couples who want to grow in their relationship.

Small Groups

We are constantly in the process of launching new small groups for couples!  Small groups vary in make up and focus; some meet at the church (and offer childcare), while others meet in homes, and some groups use video-based curriculum while others read books together.  What they have in common is that they are all fun places to share life with other couples, all trying to grow in their relationships together.  If you'd like to get more information about the next small groups that are starting, email us at coupleslife@stlukesumc.com, and you'll hear back from us shortly!

And for those of you who would like to work on your relationship but can't consistently block the time for a class or small group, we offer our most flexible program yet:

NEW!  Take the "Can't Wait Date Challenge!"

What it is:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to HAVE MORE FUN TOGETHER more often as a couple.  To help you do this, we are issuing a challenge for you to go on ONE date each of the next four months.

How it works:
Each month you will be emailed a .pdf file with a “challenge” date. Each suggested date will include off-beat dining ideas, fun “dares” for each other, and great questions to prompt conversations about your relationship.  You can also access the dates here and invite other couples to take the challenge with you!

Our promise to you:
· These dates will work on any budget.  You can even order pizza and a Redbox movie and make it work!
· They will require little preparation; the hardest part about planning the date is marking the time on your calendar.
· They’re not just about “solving issues” in your relationship.  Yes, there are discussion starters and questions, but they’re fun and positive.  Bottom Line:  You will have FUN!

Next steps:
By filling out this form, which will provide us with your email, you are committing with your spouse to prioritize one date night each of the next four months.  Then be on the look-out for the date suggestions, and have FUN!
