Scholarship Accounts

The Youth Fundraising Accounts at St. Luke's United Methodist Church represent our best attempt to reward youth for their efforts in youth ministry fundraising. Although the money in each account belongs to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, we allow youth to utilize this money for payment towards any costs for retreats, mission trips, and any church-sponsored youth activity throughout the year. At the completion of each fundraiser, a portion of the money earned is divided among the youth who worked (according to hours worked by the family) and applied to a fundraising account for the family. These accounts are maintained by the staff under the direction of the Youth Ministry Commission. Until the last youth of the family graduates from high school, this money can be applied to pay for any church youth event for any youth in the family.
Here's a list of this year's fundraising events where students, parents, and adult volunteers can earn scholarship credit for students.
PUMPKIN SALE
Each year in October, our Youth Ministry raises money for students by selling pumpkins. Youth and families who work a shift earn scholarship credit. This year we raised over $19,000!
PIZZA SALE
Each January our youth sell pizzas to raise money by selling hand-made pizzas to be picked up on Super Bowl Sunday. Parents and youth can work shifts to take orders each Sunday in January to earn scholarship credit for their child!
SILENT AUCTION & HIRE-A-TEEN
The Silent Auction allows people and business in the church and the community to donate items to be auctioned off. The winning bid goes to benefit students in our Youth Ministry. The HIRE-A-TEEN is an opportunity for teens to offer a product or service. In the past this has included tutoring, baking food, teaching music lessons, yard work, cleaning, baby sitting, and a variety of other great ideas. The money teens earn goes directly in their scholarship account.
After a youth graduates (the last youth in the family) or when the family leaves the church, the money in the scholarship account is transferred and applied to a general fund that is used for scholarships to support youth who cannot afford events in addition to offsetting costs for youth mission trips. Periodic updates on the accounts will be sent out following our first fundraiser. If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Davis.
