Outreach & Missions

Looking for a way to make a difference in the world? St. Luke's can help. With our outward-focused emphasis on service, you can easily find a way to share your gifts with others in need. Get ready for the well-known service boomerang effect: those who give often find they receive far more in return.

Community Ministries

Build a wheelchair ramp. Tutor at a neighborhood school with at-risk kids. Cook breakfast for the homeless and hungry. Donate school supplies or underwear for children in need. Buy goods for a food pantry. Participate in a race relations study circle or dialogue with someone from another faith.  With all this and more, what are you waiting for?

World Missions

Work trips change lives. Make a difference in places like Haiti, Honduras, Sierra Leone, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Dakota and Florida. Unable to travel? Health kits and flood buckets save lives too.

Global Health

The United Methodist Church is committed to the eradication of AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. St. Luke's has been a strong partner with the global church effort in fighting these tragic diseases.

Inclusiveness

St. Luke's Inclusiveness initiative supports the church in its focus on inclusiveness by being intentional as a congregation to live in true community with people of various cultures, faiths and ethnic backgrounds as, together, we celebrate similarities and honor differences.

Social Justice

The Social Justice Commission of St. Luke's has as its mission to "raise awareness and understanding of current social issues and to ground them in community programs to transform the world."  The commission has sponsored Pedal for Peace in 2009 which raised funds for Mar Elias and in 2010 for Central Asia Institute and AWAKEN.

In 2011-2012 the commission is focusing on responding to issues around poverty and is offering a class, Poverty 101- The Psychology of Poverty. Starting in early November, the course will help you understand how the impoverished see, interpret and interact with the world around them. For more information and to register for the class, go to Adult Education and look for Poverty 101.
