Construction Ministry

Servants At Work, Inc. (SAWs), a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 corporation, began as a partnership between Second Presbyterian Church and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and is designed to provide freedom for people in financial need who would otherwise be captives in their own homes. In 2011 we built 89 ramps in the Indianapolis area. At the same time, we have designed this Ministry so volunteers who enjoy working with their hands can participate without large time commitments. Very little “skill” and no tools are required. Everything is provided for you if you need it. Just bring a willing heart and a desire to help the helpless. For more information, visit the SAWs website or contact Paul Snyder at psnyder1@indy.rr.com or 695-0585.
SAWs offers many opportunities to volunteer your time or talents helping to free people from the prisons of their own homes. We have “light work” with the Finish Crew, a little heavier work (but mostly inside) with the Prefab Crew on Thursdays and Friday evenings for those whose weekends are cluttered, and two shifts on Saturdays installing the ramps on site. But if driving screws isn’t your thing, we also need volunteers for telephone interviewing of potential clients, website data entry, and basic accounting services. Our volunteers vary from those who just come for one or two Saturday builds a year to those who volunteer most weeks during our building season, either at the Thursday pre-fab session or the actual onsite build on Saturdays.
