Haiti Updates
Building the Future One Day at a Time

Beginning with the safe return of the St. Luke's and Milroy UMC Haiti mission team that was in Haiti when the earthquake hit on January 12, the work began of helping to reconstruct buildings and lives. As the six-month anniversary of the quake has come and gone, so have several mission teams. The people of St. Luke's have been incredibly generous with their prayers and gifts. Our friends in Haiti will need our support for many years to come.
This page contains links to many updates about our Haitian partnerships. If you would like information on the work being done at the school and orphanage in Fondwa, contact Rev. David Williamson or Rev. Jamalyn Peigh Williamson. For information on the Haitian Medical Academy and St. Luke's Clinic, contact Jan Nichols.

St. Luke's members Gary and Kay Walla wrote an account of their experiences in Haiti. Click here to read their story. Watch, read or download Dr. Millard's January 24 sermon or the January 31 Haiti reflections by Revs. David and Jamalyn Williamson, Gary and Kay Walla and Denise Jean-Claude here.
Shortly after the quake we received on-the-scene updates from colleagues at the Haitian Academy, a St. Luke's World Missions project. Click here to read their message.
Articles about Haiti have been written for the April-June 2010 and July-September 2010 issues of St. Luke's T.I.M.E. magazine.
Rev. David Williamson has written a reflection about the construction that has begun in Fondwa. On July 18, Rev. Jamalyn Peigh Williamson preached at St. Luke's about her return trip to Haiti after experiencing the earthquake there. Read or watch her sermon here. Or check out the blog entry from Paul Massengill, a campus pastor from Florida, who was part of a work team this spring.
