Okay, I know this looks more like a shout out to my wife, but she wanted me to celebrate this as a credit to St. Luke's. Four years ago St. Luke's was the pilot for a revised version of Disciple Bible Study, first written by Susan's dad, Bishop Wilke in 1986.
Kent Millard was one of the very first teachers and trainers of this study that has now sold millions of copies world-wide and is in print in 8 languages! Through the responses, input, and ideas of St. Luke's members this new abbreviated version, written and developed by Susan and greatly aided by other St. Luke's members, has now been published by the United Methodist Publishing House.
Publishing Disciple Fast Track is made even more special by taking place on the 30th anniversary year of Disciple Bible Study, the most popular small group Bible study curriculum in the history of Methodism. You helped make this possible St. Luke's. Because of the success of this new resource here, it was taken to over 900 congregations who served as larger pilot congregations. Now it is going even further. Way to go!
New Disciple Fast Track groups will be kicking off this fall at St. Luke's. It begins with a 12 week study of the Old Testament. For those who want to continue, they begin the 12 week New Testament study in January. This is one of the most important ways to learn scripture, grow in your faith, and draw closer to other people.
Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for announcements about our new fall groups. Also the Adult Discipleship Fair August 14th will provide more information not only about Disciple groups but other terrific learning and connection opportunities!
The mission of the church is to make disciples. This resource is a how-to guide!
