Carrie Newcomer, Parker Palmer and Gary Walters in Concert
What We Need Is Here: Hope, Hard Times & the Human Possibility
Carrie & Parker come together to create an evening concert designed to encourage a new kind of conversation-one that bridges our divides and helps restore civic community. In a time when it is easy to feel overwhelmed, discouraged or cynical, they offer a journey of mind and spirit characterized by thoughtfulness, realism, vulnerability, good humor and hope.
Parker Palmer is a writer, teacher and activist whose work speaks deeply to people in many walks of life. He is founder and senior partner of the Center for Courage & Renewal. Carrie Newcomer is described as a "prairie mystic" because so many of her songs are based right here in Indiana and are deeply rooted in her Quaker faith. Gary Walters, a performing and recording musician, composer, arranger and Butler University educator will accompany Carrie. He has performed and recorded with many of Central Indiana's finest musicians, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
