I Love My City

I Love My City | August 28, 2021 | Indianapolis

Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was. He replied “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself.” We are called to love our neighbors, no exceptions. That is why every August St. Luke's focuses on bringing hope to the world by serving our local community. Join us for I Love My City as we gather servants of all ages and send them out into Indianapolis (and beyond) to serve and give back together. Because one day can make a world of difference!

This Years Service Projects Are:

Fletcher Place

Fletcher Place

Fletcher Place exists to break the cycle of poverty by compassionately providing hot meals, food pantry, free thrift store and childcare through its initiatives. Volunteers will be divided into teams who will choose to either paint indoor spaces and outdoor fencing, deep clean kitchen and serving areas, sort and organize food pantry and thrift store items, or beautify the community garden (weed pulling and litter removal). Please wear comfortable clothing that can withstand paint!

Stop Hunger - Meal Packing

Stop Hunger - Meal Packing

In Indiana, 1 in five people don’t know where they’ll get their next meal. Together we can make sure they have one. Volunteers will pack nutritious, shelf sustainable meals that are donated to food pantries around Indianapolis. Families of all ages are welcome (you’ll all look great in a hairnet). Million Meal Movement

Keep Indy Beautiful

Keep Indy Beautiful

Help us love God’s creation by beautifying our city parks! Volunteers will help in invasive weed removal at Holliday and cleaning up flower beds and litter removal at Northwestway park. Volunteers should come wearing comfortable clothing and shoes for hot weather. Families of all ages are welcome! Keep Indy Beautiful

SAWs

SAWs

Help Servants At Work (SAWS) build freedom one ramp at a time! Volunteers will help build a free wheelchair ramp for residents who have been trapped inside their homes due to a disability. Construction experience is not required just a willing spirit! Volunteers aged sixteen and up are welcome!

Dove Recovery House

Dove Recovery House

Dove House helps women who are struggling with substance use disorder gain access to high quality treatment, recovery services and housing. Help make Dove House feel like home by deep cleaning the facility for residents and their families. Volunteers should be ready to bring their elbow grease as kitchens, classrooms and other areas are spruced up for service.

Crooked Creek Food Pantry

Crooked Creek Food Pantry

Crooked Creek Food Pantry was founded by St.Luke’s members and feeds over 1,000 families each month. Join the fight against hunger by stocking, serving and helping families from Washington Township schools grocery shop. Families of all ages are welcome to serve together.
