Who am I? I’m a black man in the twilight of his years who has spent his entire life trying to be somebody else, trying to blend into a society that judges me not by what I can contribute to it but by its subconscious fears because of the color of my skin. That badge ascribes to me all sorts of misnomers and assumptions I have strived to dispel in the minds of white people I don’t even know. My success, even my survival, depends on it. Who am I? This is the question I began to explore more deeply as I, along with the rest of our nation, discovered a past that others had hoped would have gone to the grave with those who had suffered. But my awakening revealed how that cloud of witnesses was still alive in me. My blog is that journey of revelation of who I am and how I came to be the man I am today. I encourage you to read my blog from its very first post to follow my emergence into the full light of my existence in the “land of the free."
