Last year we put well over 125,000 diapers out into our community. This is such a meaningful ministry, meeting people at their most vulnerable to offer help in the most important way — caring for the health of their babies.

Each time we gather, we hear so many languages being spoken and so many cultures represented, and this is what we always hoped would happen.

Two sisters from Haiti who lived through the earthquake come every month. Every time they come they are so filled with joy and say “God bless you, God bless you!” And absolutely insist on hugging each and every volunteer. They made a special connection with one volunteer when they learned that she had been to their country. And on Saturday one of them put her hands around the face of another volunteer and said, “My friend. You are my friend.” Which moved her to tears. We know that life has been especially rough for the Haitian folks over the past several months, but they feel safe and accepted at Hub for Hope.

Hope is spreading by word of mouth — one of the Latina ladies asked in Spanish what time we closed so she could tell her friend to come quickly because we had gift cards this week. And those friends will come back! We see their faces change from when they come in feeling embarrassed and reluctant to when they leave having been loved and accepted.
