Sharing Hope

March 17, 2023 • Rev. Rob Fuquay

This Sunday we will consider what it means to follow Christ. This is what discipleship is all about, and at the heart of this idea is the understanding that Christ’s ministry lives through His followers. By offering our lives to be used, God brings hope for the hurts and suffering of our world through you and me, and this is why I am proud to be United Methodist.

For the devotion today I want to share two videos with you. The first is a personal message from our bishop to us asking for our support in one of the most important global mission efforts of the UMC in the last fifty years.

Susan and I made a gift at Christmas to Africa University and I hope you will consider doing the same, especially as Bishop Trimble suggested as a part of your Lenten practices. And I know Bishop Trimble was sincere in offering for you to reach out to him directly about making a gift. You can also do that through the church by dropping off a check with Africa University in the memo line or by clicking here.

Then, this second video is a brand-new product showcasing the work of UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Over the past 12 months, St. Luke's has sent $10,000 in financial donations to UMCOR that have supported natural and wartime disasters in Kentucky, Florida, Ukraine, Turkey, and Syria, as well as sending 650 flood buckets that were deployed to Guatemala and Honduras. This is a great way to see the tangible results of where our support goes.

Thanks for what you do and will do to be the hands and feet of Christ at work in the world right now!

See you Sunday,

Rob
